Aaron Sorkin, the genius behind The West Wing's fast talking, fast moving White House drama, is back with his latest effort "Studio 60 On the Sunset  Strip" following the faltering sketch comedy dynasty of the same name. And he's not the only familiar name in the credits of this star studded cast.  The show is peppered with old “The West Wing” cast members playing supporting roles.

Teaming again with Sorkin is The West Wing veteran Bradley Whitford, who fans will remember played Josh Lyman the Deputy White House Chief of Staff on “The West Wing” and who will be remembered most for his drawn out love affair with Donna Moss. Evan Handler and Timothy Busfield, who played White House  correspondent Danny Concannon and who had his own unrequited love story with Press Secretary C.J. Cregg, each have small recurring roles on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and can also be counted among "The West Wing" alumni.

The premiere begins with the show within a show, “Studio 60”, on the brink of turmoil. The executive producer (played by "Judd Hirsch" in a cameo appearance) of the show within a show “Studio 60” has just gone too far and been fired for publicly ridiculing the “Studio 60” of its lack of innovation and the media in general for it’s focus on self- preservation rather than truth. . In a last hurrah, he delivers a scathing opening monologue on national television the media puppets and cowards. The newly named network president, Jordan McDeere (played by Amanda Peet) is brought in to pick up the pieces.
