While every golfer has their own personal preference when it comes time for golf clubs, a set of Callaway golf clubs is the choice for many of them. As one of the finest golf club makers in the world, Callaway enjoys a success that others can only dream of.Ely Callaway started the company in 1982 by buying out Hickory Stick USA. Changing the name to Callaway Hickory Stick USA, Ely reportedly sold his golf clubs out of the trunk of his Cadillac.
Later, in 1986 the company became the first golf club maker to use milling machines to ensure absolute flatness on their putters. In 1988 their name was changed to Callaway golf, and in 1992 they issued stock and began trading on the NYSE.
During the 1990's, Callaway golf became the number one manufacturer of woods and irons. In fact, it wasn't even close. With over $800 million dollars worth of sales, Callaway Golf was three times ahead of its nearest competitor.
Along the way the company acquired Odyssey Golf, which was well known for their line of White Hot putters. They also added Top Flite and Ben Hogan to their arsenal. Today, Callaway Golf makes not only clubs, but balls, bags and so many other golf accessories.
Callaway Woods
Callaway golf first became well known for their line of Big Bertha woods. They revolutionized the driver. Utilizing a new, bigger clubface, the drivers exploded in popularity. Today, who doesn't have a 400 - 460 cc driver in their golf bag?
The Fusion FT-3 is Callaway's newest driver. Featuring a massive 460 cc clubhead and Fusion technology, this is one great driver. Callaway's fusion technology helps to redistribute the weight in order to limit sidespin on off-center hits. This helps you to keep the ball in play and out of the rough.
The FT-3 also uses Callaway's patented Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, which creates a bigger sweet spot with more energy. The clubs are designed for your specific style of play. Whether you hit a natural draw, fade, or drive it down the middle, there is an FT-3 designed just for your game. With a retail price of $500, the FT-3 is a wonderful piece of equipment.
