For some time now I have been making homemade pizza at least once a week and recently decided to try and make homemade calzones. I was having problems with the spaghetti sauce, Hunt's Chunky Vegetable Tomato Sauce, that I was using, as it is not thick at all, running off the dough and burning in the pan. For this reason I thought it would be a good idea to thicken up the sauce with some tomato paste. I am an avid fan of eating organic foods and that particular spaghetti sauce is not organic and so I decided to get some organic tomato paste to help counter balance the non-organic and the organic ingredients of my pizzas and calzones. One of the tomato pastes that I found was a small can of Muir Glen Organic Tomato Paste.

I had heard of the Muir Glen Organic brand and knew that they were very popular for their tomato organic food items and so I was confident that purchasing the can of tomato paste would not be a waste. The six ounce can of Muir Glen Organic Tomato Paste was not expensive and only cost me one dollar and thirty nine cents. I have often wondered if to save money if one could just add water to a can of tomato paste to make sauce for their pizzas and pasta's but from what people tell me this would not taste very good and in order to make it taste good you would have to add lots of seasonings which in the end would cost you more money. After tasting the tomato paste I could see how it would not be very appealing just with water added. However in addition to a already well seasoned tomato sauce it actually works great for thickening up a sauce.
