You have seen them. A one-dollar sponge floor mop. Yes they are crap, but are they? I unscrewed the mop part from the extension pole. Just the sponge part can be used for windows in low places like a "Squee Gee." that you use at a gas station. A service station device to clean windows is good but too expensive and good luck finding them.

The dollar mop's extension pole has a cap at the top of the pole which is slotted. After easily removing the slotted cap, many of these cheap mops are hollow. What a great place to hide something (legal) I would hope. When done with this mop, and after having a couple of them, I again removed the sponge portion of this device and now had a couple of white "measuring sticks." I had to dig something in a straight line, so I took some cheap engineers tape, tied it from one mop handle to another mop handle measured about fifty feet and I had a professional straight line.

Some disadvantages are, that these cheap handles will bend easy so be careful. These type of handles can bend and break too, and can be sharp, at the point of a bend, etc.

I am currently working on a windmill from cut sections of these mop poles. I would venture to guess that the manufacturer's of these mops and many other cheapies, do not realize how if a resourceful person could use the product, they would suddenly become more than a buck. I once saw a relative try to hit her husband with a mop, but please don't you.

With a little imagination, and a little luck and creative ability don't close your mind on a products one time design, use, and marketing. These are tough times, you will feel smart that something so cheap can work for something else. So when your neighbor tells you he or she thought of that before you after they see it, you know they are lying to you. Hey what are neighbors for?

Oh yes, incase anyone would inquire, I have not found a viable use for belly-button lint, however I suppose if someone saves enough belly button lint maybe you can wrap a package in it for fragiles.

You are so, SO smart! I never thought of using the sponge mop in any other way. I've got one and it is worthles for the floor, lol. You have given me an idea. I think we could scrub the vinyl siding on our house with it. Thank you so much!
