The Journey: Each Night
Embed:
I hoist my pack to my shouldersLace my boots on tightly to my feet
Push the dirt on to the dying coals
And prepare myself to continue on
How far have I traveled down these roads
Searching for a destination I cannot find
Down endless roads that seem to lead nowhere
Through the endless heat of the desert's torment
At night I try to sleep and calm my mind
In the stars I see your face, calling to me
I hear your voice in the distance
Calling to me on the current of the wolves
When I reach upwards to touch your cheek
The visage disappears in an instant
Leaving me to swallow my tears in the night
To bury my face into the pack I sleep upon
My Wolf brothers cry into the night for me
Their howls echo my inner pain into the night
Until dawn arrives and it is time to move on
To continue traveling these empty mental highways
Down the dust-filled trails of my mind
I endlessly walk with my fear and pain
My companions throughout my journey
Reminders of all that I left behind
