Hail Storm Pounds Tarrant County
A storm with winds 30 miles per hour hit Fort Worth, TX and surrounding areas at approximately 8 p.m. April 17.
"My husband and I were on the way home from Saginaw and my son called and said you better get the cars in the garage. It's coming and it's bad," said Donna, who works in Fort Worth. "He's a fireman so he knows when something bad is coming. I was scared. I didn't get to finish grading
tests so I'm behind on my work because by the time my husband dropped me off at the door at home it was like water was being dumped on me with buckets when I got out of the car. So I left the papers in the truck. I was going to fisnih grading tests but the weather had other plans."
The windows shook on houses so much that one resident feared hers would break after the storm woke her up from a nap for the second night in a row.
In Aledo one father and his two kids got in the empty tub of their bathroom because it was so bad while Sharon, his wife was at work.
"I called home this a.m. as I had to work late and wouldn't be able to take the kids to school. I asked my eight-year-old daughter: 'Were there any more storms last night?' She said, 'NO, no storms, just a tornado.' I laughed and laughed about that one," said Sharon. "There wound up being only some blown over trees and lots of standing water. They said it looked like a snowstorm, but instead of snow it was a yard full of hail!"
A flash flood warning was in effect for Tarrant County throughout the night. One nearby convenience store on 8th Avenue suffered a roof leak that was so bad it was about to cave in.
"We told them last time this happened to fix the roof and they still haven't. Now it's happened again," the manager said.
As of April 18 at 10 p.m. the roof still hadn't been fixed though the manager said upper management was working on it.

"I guess I better go out and check my truck," he said Friday afternoon.
