Jordin Sparks Forced To Cancel Show
In Washington, D.C. for the Earth Day Concert, Jordin Sparks had to cancel her performance. According to Tiffany Shipp, the spokesperson from Sunshine, Sachs and Associates representing the Green Apple Festival, "Due to illness, Jordin Sparks has had to bow out of kicking off "America's largest Earth Day celebration" on the National Mall in DC with Earth Day Network and Green Apple Festival. Instead, her friend and fellow Idol favorite, Blake Lewis will step in to kick off the day with a patriotic tribute in his own special style. Jordin was set to perform the National Anthem in DC while seven other free-to-the-public sister festivals launch in landmark parks across the country."

Blake Lewis was the American Idol runner-up in the 6th season of American Idol, the talented individual known for interspersing his songs with "beat box" interpretations and energetic style.

Other Performers Still Scheduled to Perform Across the U.S.
On 4/20 Earth Day Network and Green Apple Festival will present 8 simultaneous music festivals in major parks in DC, NYC, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Performers range from The Neville Brothers, Ricky Skaggs, The Bacon Brothers, Menudo, Arrested Development, Ziggy Marley, Los Lonely Boys and members of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and even Tommy Lee of Motley Crue.

Sparks was also scheduled to perform later that evening in Pennsylvania. According to Penn State Live, "Due to an unfortunate illness, Jordin Sparks has been forced to cancel her show scheduled for this Sunday, April 20, at the Bryce Jordan Center. Sparks' doctor has advised the Jordan Center that the former "American Idol" winner cannot perform due to an acute vocal cord hemorrhage condition. Because of the risk of permanent vocal cord damage, Sparks has been ordered to strict vocal rest and will not be able to perform anywhere until her condition improves."
