Kid's Crafts: Make a Mother's Day, Father's Day or Birthday Card from Recycled Egg Shells
To make this kid's craft card for Mother's Day, Father's Day or anyone's birthday, you need simple supplies and an imagination. The recycled egg shells project is very easy to make. You choose how detailed or simple the recycled
egg shells card will be. The recycled egg shells card is good for children of all ages. Smaller kid's may need some supervision.
The recycled egg shells card, is a somewhat messy project. Make sure surfaces are covered to prevent staining from the dyes or glue, or work at a washable surface. Keep a wet sponge close by to quickly clean up any spills. Work at a place that is easy to sit and move around from, like a kitchen table, school desk, art table, or counter.
Supplies needed for the Kid's Craft Recycled Egg Shells Card:
Eggs shells. Clean, dry and save the shells from your breakfasts. Put them out to dry completely.
Card stock. This should be thick enough paper to hold the weight of glue and crushed egg shells. Thinner paper like binder paper or printer paper is too thin to hold the shape well. Heavy construction paper can be used. The best paper to use is a heavier card stock. This makes the card look a bit more formal and professional. You can find card stock at most craft stores and at many art, paper or office supply stores.Try to use a recycled stock, if it is available. Pick a colour or texture of paper that will make the design stand out.
Food colours. The cheap ones from the grocery store work fine. If you want more intense colours though, use the professional strength food dyes available at many craft or kitchen specialty supply stores. You can do a design for yoru recycled crushed egg shell cards out of undyed egg shells too.
White glue. Get the crafting glue. School glue works fine too.
A pencil. You may not even need to use one. This is for people who need a more precise pattern to follow. It is also good to use a pattern for smaller children, if you are going for a specific design.
Small Bowls. You need one for each colour.
One larger bowl to crush the egg shells in.
Paper towels or to be more environmentally sound use old rags or dish clothes as a surface to dry the crushed egg shells on.
