Top Mexican Restaurants in Helena, Montana

By far the best Mexican restaurant in Helena Montana is Melaque. The restaurant serves Sonora style Mexican that most pallets in the US find truly Mexican. The recipes actually are from Chiapas. The taste is superb. I have eaten here many times and each time I go with friends the staff and the food is way above average. The price is very reasonable the dinner and lunch menu are the same. The entrees are served with rice and beans run between $ 5.95 and $12.

The dinner menu and the lunch menu are similar. Monday through Saturday the restaurant is open from 11:00 to 9:30 PM. Sundays 4:00 to 9:00 PM.

My favorite on the menu is chili relleno. I am kind of a chili relleno fan. I have had them all over the US and Melaque knows just how to get the right fluff on the outside shell, (egg white, flour and milk mixture) This is the real trick of excellent chili relleno. The whole green chilies are soft and stuffed with cheese.  The red sauce is beyond description. In addition the plate can include rice and beans. The price for a complete meal is about $7.

Other entrees are chicken and beef enchiladas, burritos that are delectable. The chimichangas are crisp on the outside and covered in sauce that can only be described as heavenly. All can be ordered ala carte or with a full meal.

Besides the food being exceptional, the staff is attendant to your every need. If you want a side of sour cream, salsa, or just about anything all you have to do is ask. Your water glass will never go dry. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone because I have always had a great experience.
