Is there anything more romantic than a steak dinner? Even when you make this meal at home, you can feel the romance in the air. But, what if you get tired of the same old recipes? What if you want something more special? In this article, I'll teach you how to make a gourmet steak dinner that will really wow your partner.

The first step to preparing a gourmet steak dinner is to choose the cut of meat. There are several choices to choose from. You could choose a New York strip, rib eye, or a porterhouse. But, one of the most romantic cuts is the filet mignon. This cut is extremely tender and is usually wrapped in a piece of bacon. If you wrap the filet yourself, I suggest using peppercorn bacon for added flavor. Also, don't go overboard with the seasoning. A small amount of sea salt and cracked black pepper is all you need to get this steak ready for your gourmet dinner.

The second step is to choose the type of potato dish you want to serve with your gourmet steak dinner. Many people choose a baked potato to go with their steak dinner, but baked potatoes aren't very gourmet. Instead, why not make a potato gratin? A potato gratin is a layering of thinly sliced potatoes, a cream mixture, and cheese. There are several easy recipes available online. If you want to make this side dish really gourmet, make a blue cheese potato gratin.

The third step is to choose another side dish for your gourmet steak dinner. Personally, I think any green vegetable works perfectly because it adds a beautiful pop of color to the plate. For example, asparagus would be wonderful. Simply grill the asparagus, season, and top with parmesan cheese.

The last step is to of course make a dessert to end your gourmet steak dinner. If you want to make a big presentation, use silicone baking cups to create chocolate bowls. All you need to do is brush melted chocolate inside the cups and allow the chocolate to setup in the refrigerator. Once set, fill the cups with chocolate mousse and fresh berries.

Takeaways
  • Choose high quality cuts of meat, such as filet mignon.
  • Make a potato gratin.
  • Don't forget dessert.
