NEW CASTLE – On Saturday, October 14, 2006 the Delaware Air National Guard 60th Anniversary Open House and Air Show will highlight the 60th anniversary celebration of the unit founded in 1946. 

The event, free and open to the public, starts 8:00 a.m., with all activities ending at 5:00 p.m. and gates closing at 6:00 p.m. The event is on the Air Guard side of the New Castle County Airport, 2600 Spruance Drive, New Castle, DE, zip code 19720.
There is no general public parking on base, but we have two free secure parking locations off base for the general public, and 24 free shuttle buses will operate all day to transport people to the air base and back. 

The largest parking location is fewer than four miles away from the air base at the General Motors Wilmington Assembly plant, located at 801 Boxwood Road, Wilmington, DE, zip code 19804. Use Gate 4 (the West gate); clearly marked on Boxwood Road. 

The second parking location is one-half a mile away from the air base at 12 Penns Way, New Castle, DE, zip code 19720, off Commons Boulevard, with several parking lots available. Penns Way is on the opposite side of Commons Boulevard from the New Castle County Government Center. Handicap parking is available at both off base parking locations with placard. Only handicapped personnel with special needs may park on the air base.
