Three photographers spent months in the Great Trinity Forest, capturing beauty and neglect.

Dan Burkholder, Scot Miller, and Jill Skupin Burkholder's exhibit started Sept. 29th and end Oct. 15th.

A production of Fine Photographic Prints depicts life in the forest of lush trees in South Dallas. Dan uses High Dynamic Range technique in digitally photographed pictures and Miller employs stunning detailed studies with film using a medium format camera. Jill uses classic bromoil prints hand-crafted with brushes and inks and overlaid with digitally applied color pigments. The result is a beautiful exhibit in fine art photography.

Each photographer and the gallery is donating a portion of proceeds from each sale of every photo to Groundwork Dallas, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting environmental, economic, and social well-being in the Great Trinity Forest and surrounding neighborhoods.

Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Sun to Moon Gallery, 3001 Keller Springs Road in Carrollton. You can also view the exhibit by appointment.

Dan is considered one of the digital pioneers. As master platinum printer, he was one of the first fine art photographers to champion digital technology by creating the digital negative in 1992.

"The art world is fraught with contradictions," said Dan. "I staircase my print pieces."

According to Dan, all printers work for digital negatives. Imagesetter negatives still have a quality advantage for those printing on a gelatin over-coated paper like commercial silver gelatin papers, says Dan.

"I was first introduced to Dan's magnificent photographic work at a gallery in Washington, D.C.," said Harald Johnson.
