Product Review: Lean Cuisine TV Dinners
I've never been a fan of TV dinners. They've always just tasted like fake food to me, but it turns out I just wasn't trying the right kind.
There are now so many different varieties of them, it's hard to choose what to try. My husband and I had a case of late-night munchies, so we just took a shot in the dark and tried two. He had on from Lean Cuisine, and I had one from Kashi.
I got the Kashi Black Bean Mango all-natural dish, because I've had quite a few Kashi products that I've enjoyed in the past. It was pretty good, but would probably be more suitable as a side dish with a meal. There's no meat it in, so it's a great option for vegetarians and vegans who need a quick lunch or snack. It was very fresh-tasting, and the mango sauce on it was very good. My husband's Lean Cuisine meal, however, was marvelous.
He got a Lean Cuisine Café Classics meal simply called Roasted Garlic Chicken. I tried a few bites of it, and I almost couldn't believe I was eating a TV dinner. The garlic sauce on the chicken had a strong, very pleasant garlic flavor, and there was a lot of it, which really surprised me. The chicken itself had that extra-soft, tender texture that most TV dinner chicken has, which doesn't really bother me. I actually kind of like it that way. The side that came with it, spinach in a creamy parmesan sauce, could have been served in a restaurant. It reminded us both of the spinach and cheese dip you can get in some restaurants, but better. My husband said it was the best TV dinner he's ever had, and I would definitely have to agree.
