With Mother's Day right around the corner, you may be asking yourself how to make this day special for your one and only special mom. Sure, you can make her breakfast in bed, or buy her flowers or chocolate. But how about throwing a whole party in honor of your mother and what she means to you?

First thing's first: Budget. Everyone has a budget, and most people aren't millionaires so we'll work with a decent size budget: $100-$200 (after all there has to be presents for the most important woman in your life).

Once you have a budget down, consider your mom's favorite things. Is she a crafty person, into motorcycles, love her garden or read like there's no tomorrow? Whatever her favorite things are, they should become the theme for the party.

For example: if you mother loves to garden then fill the house with real or fake flowers. Maybe have the kids create some flowers to plaster the wall with. When you buy her a cake, find one that incorporates the idea of a garden into it. Ask guests, if there will be any, to bring gardening supplies you know your mom either wants or needs for her beloved hobby. A great and inexpensive gift for this theme would be a coupon book that she can use to get gardening help from everyone in the family. Once you have satisfied her with all her favorite things, its time to throw in a little thought of your own. First ask yourself a few questions: 1. Why is my mom important to me? 2. What is my favorite thing about my mom? 3. If I could have only one day with my mom and just me what would we do?
