Review: Mike's Lemon Drop Cocktail
Have you ever wished that there was something better than beer in your grocer's cooler. Well, I've found something much better! Mike's Lemon Drop Cocktail from the makers of Mike's Hard Lemonade. I'm not a beer drinker. I don't like the taste or the smell of any beers that I've attempted
to sample. I usually purchase mixed drinks when I go out or I make them myself at home. Unfortunately in some social situations, it's drink a beer or nothing. So I was kind of excited when I came across Mike's Lemon Drop Cocktails. It looked like something I'd be able to enjoy when others were having their beers.
Mike's Lemon Drop Cocktails are packaged just like beer. There are four eight ounce bottles in a cardboard carrier package. They are even in the beer section of all the stores I've purchased them at. They have the distinctive Mike's Hard look, so you can't miss them. Since the bottles are only eight ounces in size, they are smaller than their beer counterparts, which are usually around twelve ounces in size. But what they lose in size, is definitely made up for in taste and alcohol kick.
Each bottle of Mike's Lemon Drop Cocktail contains real fruit juice and 8% alcohol--which makes for a nice little kick to those of us who aren't big drinkers. I get a nice, relaxed feeling from only one bottle. Not only that, but the taste is fantastic.
It really does taste like lemonade! The Mike's Hard Lemonade also tastes like lemonade, but the Lemon Drop Cocktail is more so. It has a sweeter "mixed drink" type taste. This drink also has less of a bitter after-taste than anything else I've sampled. It's very light and hardly noticeable, especially if your having it with a meal.
The bottle states that it's ready-to-drink and even suggests that you serve over ice. I've tried it over ice and straight from the bottle and I prefer it right out of the bottle. Over ice kind of hides the mild after-taste, but I get a stronger kick if I drink it right from the bottle. It's a personal preference, I suppose.
