In this country, quitting is looked down upon. Those who quit are often deemed as losers, or as too scared to go on. Sometimes, though, quitting can be incredibly brave and hard to do. That is the case for Hillary Clinton. In her heart, she has to know that she is in the middle of a race that she cannot win. Yet, no matter what the polls tell her, Hillary Clinton is refusing to bow out of the race with dignity. She is going to fight for as long as she possibly can, and tear apart the Democratic Party in the process.

There was a time when Hillary Clinton showed integrity while running for Presidential nomination. Before the primary season officially began, Clinton refused to badmouth her Democratic competitors. She let it be known that she was running against the Republicans, not her fellow Democrats. She informed the American public that the purpose was to have a Democrat win the office. She stated that the Democrats were going to band together to tear down the Republican domination of the White House. Certainly, she would like to be the Democrat sitting in the Oval Office, but she would not fight against her fellow Democrats.

At that time, of course, Hillary Clinton was the front runner.

Nothing is a sure thing in politics. Barack Obama's grassroots campaign led to him winning over voters state to state. Hillary Clinton would begin leading in a state, but then Obama would overtake the state at the last moment. Clinton's façade began to fade, and her teeth came out.

Suddenly, it was not Democrats versus Republicans. Hillary Clinton decided it should be Democrats against Democrats.

Initially, she had been running against worthy opponents. All of the sudden, the rest of the candidates were not good enough to get the nomination. There was only one true candidate, and that was Hillary Clinton. That is, keep in mind, according to Hillary Clinton.

I was supportive of Mrs. Clinton until she feel into the same duplicitous, political rhetoric that so saturates the other side of the aisle. I wish she were still the bespectacled idealist burning the candle at both ends. That's before ambition stole from her the courage it takes to be a liberal. Go Obama! And PLEASE, sir - walk your talk!

The best and most experienced candidates for the democratic nomination never made it out the gate due to lack of money and media exposure. I agree that Hillary is hurting her party. Senator McCain must not become the next President of the United States. We do not need four more years of President Bush type policies and programs.

why are your articles so low graded? Is it because of your lack of talent as a writer?

Never count the Clintons out!! However, I believe if she wins the nomination the Obama followers will feel she stole the nomination and there will be blood in the streets. Do any of you recall 1968? If you were not alive at that time, check out the history.

Nice exposition of the Democratic parties aid in their own demise. Why are there 2 democrats and only 1 Republican in the spotlight?

Haha. I laugh every time you mention sniper fire. Yeah, she's a bit of a joker. I say Huckabee should've stayed in the race, the funny bastard, and let Hillary drop out and rot.

I am not going to read this at all - waste of time really so I say this..... AMEN to the title :) and Amen to Mr Anonymous down there who votes Mc Cain

Um... Obama is not electable people. Hillary knows this.. she is trying to save the democratic party from another failure and loss. McCain will most definitely take Ohio and Florida... two states that matter.. In fact, no democrat has ever won without Ohio. Obama can't take it. Wake Up - People.

Hillary believes she's the best and most knowledgeable. Asking her to quit for the benefit of an arcane party agenda is to champion poor self-esteem, leadership deficiencies, retreat, surrender. The "party damage" argument is just a ploy--a tiny bit true-but still a ploy.

Before they were ordering her. Now they are begging of her. Soon they will start crying to her! .... LOL... Even the mainstream media (MSNBC, the Obama Channel) is beginning to fret that Obama can't win the big states crucial to the general election. Obama's margin could shrink in NC and, should Hillary win in Indiana, her case will be even stronger for leading in the popular vote and deserving more support from uncommitted super-delegates(where she currently leads). On the other hand, I don't think squeamish Howard Dean can withstand the pressures, leading to Lanny Davis' state that some Democrats have made a "suicide pact" to go down with Barack. Even so, I must say that Obama showed some character in his supportive statements today regarding the Shawn Bell verdict in Queens.

Well stated and 100% correct!

A sad part is that McCain people are going out and voting for Clinton, giving her these "victories." On the issues: The Clintons not only have been for the death penalty, they carried out executions in Arkansas. She somehow made $100,000 on a $1,000 cattle futures investment. FBI files of political foes turned up in her part of the White House. Being from Michigan, I can't begin what a fraud is her position that she "won" Michigan. Even she said before the shadow vote that it didn't matter. Yes, we all are human that that does not make all politicians the same. I agree with what Amy has written.

Obama cannot seal the deal. It's time for him to drop out of the race and put his support behind the Democratic candiate who can be elected this year, Hillary Clinton. Obama, for the sake of the country and the party, drop out of the race now and let someone who can beat McCain get down to the business of defeating him.

Well, politicians are just people. And, being watched almost 24 hours a day, it's obvious that they'll make some errors along the way. I don't fault the politicians about this ugly fight. True enough, it seems that if Senator Clinton were more concerned about the party she'd behave differently. However, the political system, voters and especially the media at times seem to reward candidates for ugly politics. I'm ready to see the system changed - less money in campaigning and everyone voting on the same day or at least regional election days. Thanks Amy for this editorial. It's one thing I really appreciate about Associated Content - that is there are many different opinions written.
