Comcast: Horrible Service Reps, Terrible Phone Service and Less Than Appealing Prices

That's Right, It's Comcast

Why this strong hatred towards Comcast, you ask?  It all began with their commercials.  Over the past six months, I've noticed an overload of Comcast commercials.  My hatred does not stem off the fact that there was a slew of
Comcast commercials on every basic cable station, if that's what you're thinking.  Actually, this is how the idea to switch my family's phone service from good ol' reliable Verizon to Comcast's Digital Voice.  Now, to be fair to Comcast (if I can call it that), it does provide my family with internet and cable service.  The service has been good, to say the least.  But, of course, there have been hiccups along the way.  For example, I've started to notice that my cable will freeze for at least a few seconds.  It doesn't seem as though it were that important but when those "freezing" moments happen during basketball or football games, it can be a tad bit frustrating.  The internet service, I have to admit, was beginning to be extremely reliable and my family never noticed any connection problems.  If there were, it was usually during a thunderstorm or other severe weather conditions, in which case, I can understand because no one can control mother nature.

So, it was a fateful Monday afternoon when I received an email from my brother alerting me to the fact that there was a chance he was interested in switching our phone service to Comcast.  When inquiring as to why we would do this, his reasoning made sense: if we wanted to save some money, Comcast was the way to go.  After all, we did already have internet and cable service through them - why not our phone service as well?  BIG mistake.

Six days.... no service, NO TV, promises and lies. Totally clueless.....

I just had another technician come over to deal with the same problem, and it is still not fixed. There is not enough power for both the cable and internet. Each technician finds a different problem and "fixes" it.

My bill went up $40 to $148 because the Triple Play promo was over. OK. So I called and ask if I can get a better rate and the phone rep said no that that was the lowest they offer. Then, I sign up for Vonage and then call Comcast to cancel the cable TV (I only want internet). This new phone rep said that my bill can be cut to $117 for the new triple play promo. I told her what the previous rep said and she said "well, that is not what the internal notes say. You called just to ask about your bill." WHAT!?!?! She said when I return the equipment then I will have the cable TV cut off and they offer phone for $15 per month. Even at the rip off $117, I do not trust them: I can not stand the TV programming.

Unable to access Comcast email ONCE AGAIN. Customer service reps are clueless. This is extremely frustrating. Time to say bye-bye Comcast.

They charged me $10 for triple play rewards, and $19.99 for repair service due to their poor installation service. I called in to dispute the charges and got credits finally. It is hard for me to imagine how a $10 discount of triple play rewards could become a $10 charge.

Do yourself a favor, do NOT get Comcast Business services. My business suffered terribly due to Comcasts inability to troubleshoot correctly. I spoke with customer service in the Chicagoland area... pathetic. They kept giving me wrong information about my network gateway, call hunting and a ton of other problems. Only when i spoke to someone who said they were NOT in the Chicagoland area did the issues actaully get fixed. These problems cost me a lot of money for my business, and could have been fixed Im sure if the reps in Chicago new what the heck they are doing. Either their training consisted of an hour with a book or the one training them doesnt know themselves. Please Chicago Comcast, leave the business portion to those who can fix problems, you obviously do not know what your doing.

I agree totally! Comcast called and made a great pitch, so I switched phone service to save $30 a month. They got it switched...my brother's warning came true. I could hear the person on the other end of the phone just fine, but they couldn't hear me. A week later a Comcast tech guy came over and spent an hour. He left and I called my girlfriend....she couldn't hear me. This guy couldn't have been gone 15 minutes. Four days later they came back out and put in a new modem...fixing the problem. Guess what.... Well...I called them the next business day (Monday) and they scheduled a time to come out Friday morning. At 1pm I called the customer service number and was told that they didn't show an appointment scheduled for that day or any other day. I immediately called Comcast and had the phone service stopped. That was the only thing Comcast did right...they turned it off, and I am now land line free!

I agree, Comcast is terrible. I have been scheduled and rescheduled several times over a five week period and it is still not working correctly. At first after finally getting it installed, I was unable to get any HD channels. They came out and worked on it and it worked, until they left. They came out again and left and now the HD channels flicker and the On Demand channels bounce in and out so much you can't even see them. I will now call again tomorrow and make another appointment.
