I never buy ice cream as I have a mild milk allergy but I am known to have it from time to time. The other day I tried some ice cream's at my friend's house, the ice cream was Blue Bunny Premium Pistachio Almond Ice Cream. I couldn't remember if I had ever tried such an ice cream flavor and found it to taste good. Although I thought that it tasted fine I couldn't help but wonder what the ingredients were or what the nutrition facts were. Thankfully my friend still had the container and allowed me to scan it over.

The ingredients of Blue Bunny Premium Pistachio Almond Ice Cream seemed to be okay at first with milk, cream, sugar and buttermilk listed first, but it was some of the ingredients that followed that had me a little bit disappointed in the ice cream. Next on the list was almonds, which didn't seem bad at all except that in parentheses there was the the mention of partially hydrogenated soybean oil, butter and salt next to almonds. After that corn syrup, natural pistachio flavor with other natural flavors, carob bean gum, guar gum, mono and diglycerides, carrageenan, artificial flavor, blue 1 and yellow 5 followed. Now while the flavoring is common in ice cream and stabilizers are also often seen I was not fond of the fact that there were colors in the ice cream or the fact that there was mono and diglycerides. As a vegetarian I avoid mono and diglycerides as they are not always derived from plant sources. I had hopes that the nutrition facts would be more pleasing.
