Video games are playing a very large role in today's youth, even a good portion of today's adults. These games are flying off the shelves, and being downloaded on the Internet at such high rates that it astounds many people. Why do so many people buy or play video games? It's really quite simple; because they like video games and they enjoy playing them, and find it worth the price to buy the video games to play them.

These games are very entertaining, and in turn have an extremely addictive side to them. Many people would argue that video game addiction is destroying the lives of many. I personally thought this at one point, because it seems as if the effects of being so addicted to video games are extremely negative.

Games often serve as a safe haven for people having difficulty in their own lives. It's unique that the fact that games can provide a safe haven, because it provides people with a sense of control. People can control the world in their game lives, and they can't in their own.

Many psychological addictions start with control issues, it's unique, because of the fact that games forming a safe haven is a much more healthy and safe approach at having a sense of control than some more common, dangerous ways.

Grades
Most people believe that grades fall as a result of being psychologically addicted to video games. This is true, but only to a very small extent.

You really have to look at the bigger picture. Perhaps these people actually are addicted to these games as a sense of control. Then the games aren't directly causing the problems, the stressed which causes the video game addiction is the real culprit.
