The first of these so called fees is the careful what you ask for fee, particularly through Air Canada. If your flight is delayed due to weather, make sure you as the passenger pay the extra $25-$35 On My Way Fee so that agents can help you find a hotel, restaurants or another flight. This is something airlines have previously done for free due to the inconvenience caused to you, the customer, to whom chooses to patronize the airline with your money. Other airlines charge the same ridiculous fees such as Delta Airlines charging passenger $3 extra per bag for administrative fee for curbside check in. In actuality you may get your flight cheap but with rising fuel prices theses fees are the only way that airlines can remain competitive. On Southwest Airlines a passenger can pay an extra $10 to $20 to be one of the first passengers on the plane, an extra reward point and a free cocktail for the ride.

Now for people choosing to rent they can be charged a processing fee of $20 by their landlord if they choose to send in more than one check per month. The excuse being that this small but pain in the ass fee would keep the owner's bookkeeping in a more simplified and easy to handle form, as performed by Slocum Apartments in Pullman Washington. Also hotels have been charging their customers anywhere from $10 to $25 to restock the minibar. Some have even gone as far as to use electronic lasers to detect when someone picks something up out of the bar and charges the room directly. This small fee has increased the hotel's business by 1.6 billion dollars since 2006.

Takeaways
  • Pay $10 to $20 to stand in line at the DMV.
  • Pay an extra $10 to be the first passenger on the plane.
  • Want to restock the minibar in you room for free. Don't even think about it.
