While most people her age are just beginning their college careers, Alia Sabur is teaching people her age. The 19-year-old has recently been named the youngest full-time college professor in history by the Guiness Book of World Records. Sabur's journey began long before she was named a professor. At the tender age of 10 Sabur was enrolled at Stony Brook University. By 11 she played the Clarinet with the Rockland Symphony Orchestra. According to Chinaview She earned her bachelor's degree at the age of 14 and was hired on February 14th of this year as a professor in the department of Advanced Technology Fusion at Konuk University in Seoul of ROK,Korea.
While Sabur is extraordinary without a doubt she is not alone in the world of child prodigies and slowly they are coming out of the woodwork and being met with media attention. Gregory Robert Smith is just 17 years old but he completed high school at the age of 9. Smith completed 10 grades in just three years. Some he completely skipped while others ha completed in a matter of a few months. He received a Bachelor's in Mathematics at 13 and in 2007 at the age of 16 years old he was working on a Ph.D. In Mathematics at the University of Virginia.
Marla Olmstead is also considered a child prodigy but in a completely different respect. Born in 2000 Olmstead is still a young child but her paintings have sold for tens of thousands of dollars. Her paintings garnered some attention at the age of 2 but she received international attention at the age of 4. Her work is abstract and many art critics suggest Olmstead's complexity and design are that of a highly talented and skilled artist.
Similar phenomenons have been seen across the world with several teens becoming doctors, excelling in computer technology and dealing with mathematical equations that can send a Ph.D student into a fit of confusion, but what is driving them. According to Brain connection there are many children in the world who can be considered a prodigy in a subject but it is likely that they excel specifically in one course of study.
