Cloth diapers are more comfortable for your baby.

How would you like to have rough paper rubbing against your sensitive parts 24 hours a day? Ouch! Doesn't your baby deserve the comfort of soft cloth? Cloth is less irritating, and the soft padding makes for a soft landing while they're learning to walk too!

Cloth diapers are convenient.

Yes, really! When you use cloth diapers, you'll never have to make another late-night run to the convenience store when you run out. And you'll never have to lug all the used ones to the curb or the local dump.

Cloth diapers are economical.

The average baby goes through around $2,000.00 worth of disposable diapers between birth and potty training. (And that doesn't include the cost of driving to the store to buy them!) That's a lot of money for something just to poop on and then throw away. Not only are cloth diapers less expensive for your first child (less than $100 for a full set of the basic variety), but you can re-use them for the little brothers and sisters that follow. When all your kids are potty-trained, you can even resell their used cloth diapers, recouping some of your investment.

Cloth diapers are safer for your baby.

Disposables are full of chemicals, some of which are now linked to sterility in males, and some of which are known to cause cancer. Other countries have already banned some of these chemicals, but the US hasn't...yet. Cloth diapers also have a much lower incident of diaper rash, since they don't hold skin-irritating compounds against baby's skin all day and night.

Cloth diapers are better for the planet.

Our landfills are full of disposables. They don't decompose because people instinctively wrap them up into tight little poop-bombs, trying to contain the smell and mess. Wrapped up tight like that, no air gets in. Air is necessary to decomposition, so diapers wrapped up tight like that don't ever break down. They last practically forever, buried underground. (Job to avoid in the future...archaeologist. Eww!)

Potty training is easier and faster with cloth diapers.

I decided to read your article after seeing some of your hilarious posts in the forum towards Phillip, so I guess the self-promotion worked. I really enjoyed this article it was informative and funny, and though I already knew about how awful disposable diapers were for the environment, I never thought about the poor baby's perspective. Even though I'm not having kids anytime soon, when I do I'll be using the cloth diapers thanks to you, by the way, the diaper in the picture was too cute.

You sold me. I think it's a great article. I'm not going to have kids anytime in the near future but if I do someday I will seriously consider this.
