Military deployments can put a huge strain on even the most secure of marriages. During your spouse's deployment you may be able to cope well on your own or you might need extra support. Read on to learn more about where to turn to at Beale AFB, California, if you find that you are in need of some practical assistance during your spouse's deployment.

Hearts Apart Dinner

Every Thursday there is a free "Hearts Apart Dinner" and activities available for spouses and children of deployed family members at the Contrails Inn from 4:30-6:00pm. This is an ongoing event that is sponsored by the 9th Services Squadron, First Sergeants, Contrails Inn and the Airmen & Family Readiness Centre. To learn more about the Hearts Apart Dinner or to sign up, RSVP to the Airmen & Family Readiness Centre by calling (530) 634-2863.

Free Phone Card

Nothing quite helps keep a married couple close across the miles than to hear the sound of each other's voice. The Air Force Aid Society provides a free phone card for families who will soon be separated due to deployment. These are handed out during the pre-deployment briefing that is given just prior to your spouse's deployment.

Freebies and Discounts from Services Facilities

All families who are coping with the deployment of their spouse are eligible to receive a "Deployer's Family Card" from the Community Centre. This is a service that is provided at bases throughout America and abroad and offers discounts at Services facilities such as when eating out, bowling, or enjoying any other form of recreation. To learn more about the Deployer's Family Card, call (530) 634-3140 for more details and make sure you have a copy of your spouse's deployment orders with you so that you can qualify for freebies and discounts at Beale AFB.

Free Car Care

The Air Force Aid Society sponsors one free oil change and a car check on your primary vehicle during your spouse's deployment. This is offered at the Main Service Station at Beale AFB. In order to receive your free car care voucher, bring along a copy of your spouse's deployment orders when you stop by the Airmen & Family Readiness Centre.

Takeaways
  • A free Hearts Apart Dinner is served every Thursday at the Contrails Inn
