Toys for Under Ten Dollars

Holiday Gift Guide

In this day and time, shopping for kids can be very expensive.  All the toys that are released around the holidays all seem to cost at least $30, if you can even find them at the store.  For example the T.M.X. Elmo was released last month and cost around $40.  Now that it
is sold out you can only find it on eBay for around $70.  Who wants to spend that much money on toys that will only get played with a few times and then tossed aside?  Here are several gift ideas for toys that cost under ten dollars.

Puzzles:  Kids love puzzles and this toy can be found for well under ten dollars, sometimes you can find this toy for only one dollar.  There are several great puzzles out there.  Depending on the age of the children you are shopping for you may want to stay away from harder puzzles, such as the 3-D puzzles.  Another toy in this category is puzzle books.  Puzzle books can also be bought for well under ten dollars.

Board Games:  There are so many great board games that can be found for under ten dollars.  For example, at Wal-Mart you can find Clue, Ants in Pants, Cooties, Monopoly, and several others for under ten dollars.  I also suggest checking the clearance area in the toy section.  Just the other day I bought Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture 2 for ten dollars.

Models:  Models make great toys for kids because they keep them busy for hours.  Be sure to be mindful of the skill levels located on the boxes.  Even if the child is older than the age listed on the box, make sure they have built a model before.  If they haven’t, start out with a skill level one so that they don’t get frustrated and can build the model.

Handheld Games:  There are several handheld games that make great toys for kids.  You can usually find these for well under ten dollars, sometimes under five.  There are sports related games, casino type games, action games, and even educational games.
