Mother's Day, always the second Sunday in May, presents family members with a special opportunity to honor mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, mothers-in-law and other special maternal figures. Annually, we give flowers, candy, gifts, and other mementos to the mothers we love.

The greeting card industry fairly flourishes at Mother's Day, as consumers snatch up sentimental stationary to express affection and appreciation to mothers everywhere.

How can we make our Mother's Day greetings extra memorable? Why not include special Scriptures, selected just for the mothers we love?

Mother's Day Memory Verses

Choosing personalized passages from the Word of God is a super way to make a Mother's Day greeting card or gift unique and meaningful.

Why not create a Bible verse bookmark, magnet or laminated bookmark for a special mother? If you are particularly craft, you might cross-stitch or embroider a favorite Bible passage onto a pillow, eyeglasses case or other item. Or you could include a special Bible promise on a scrapbook page or cover.

Better still, how about selecting several Scriptures and printing them on card stock, then cutting them into stacks and constructing a personalized packet of Bible memory cards for Mother's Day? Choose the Bible translation you like best. (Several are listed at the end of this article.)

Perhaps you already have favorite Bible passages that have particular poignancy for your family. Here are ten favorite Mother's Day Scriptures to get you started. (Scripture reference links have been included, so you can easily find these verses in an online Bible.)

A Promise for Mothers

"He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young." (Isaiah 40:11, KJV)

In this Old Testament promise, spoken by the prophet Isaiah, the Lord clearly states His commitment to guide and protect mothers and to care for their children. Surely the Lord loves our children even more than we do. What a wonderful encouragement for Mother's Day and always.

Hi Linda - just got your message on my 10 Verses, and in fact when I went in to get the messages, there was your 10 Verses on the sidebar and I was going to click here anyway!! You put a great, great deal of thought into all of these! Some angles I didn't think of for mine. Fantastic! And Yikes! I forgot to say which version I used (mine were all NIV). Went back and left a note!

This is such a wonderful article, I don't know where to begin. One of my favorite verses of all time is: "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." (Proverbs 17:22, NIV), I would have never thought of it before as a "mothers' proverb, but I guess it really is. I especially like the final verses of Proverbs that you quoted in your article. This one is definitely a 5*****. Excellent job!
