Earth Day promotes awareness for what we can do to help the planet. By reminding us that by doing simple things like recycling aluminum cans, turning off electricity when we aren't using it and planting a tree we can make a difference. Some businesses and television networks are so excited about Earth Day it is celebrated a week.

The networks teach us ways we can go green and businesses that buy metals & aluminum cans will pay more for them during the special week. The promotion of Earth Day can make us aware of the tools we can use to fight global warming. But Earth Day has a rival that is quite the opposite and has negative effects on the planet. It is a television show on the History Channel called "Ax Men."

"Ax Men" is a show about loggers. It gives the viewer an inside look at the difficulties, dangers and problems that can and do arise if one is to take on this particular career. Some loggers have been passing down their techniques and skills to their children so that sons or daughters can follow in the footsteps of their parent and they will pass on the information to their children and so forth giving rise to generations of loggers.

Here are a couple of things that loggers do at least according to the show.

Cutting down trees isn't the only worry of being a logger. When a fire breaks out sometimes they are called in to help fight the fire even when they are off work. This is because protection of the trees is necessary or future profits will go up in flames.

Some off duty loggers are avid hunters and they hunt in the forests, or surrounding areas, they are cutting down. This would appear to give them an advantage since cutting down trees in areas where wildlife are thriving drives the creatures into narrower areas where it is impossible or harder for them to hide.

"Ax Men" may be an educational good show to watch for many but it appears to be promoting global warming by being so enthusiastic about cutting down trees. This show makes it hard to point a finger at the cutting down of trees in the Rain Forest because it's being done in our own backyard.

Takeaways
  • "Ax Men" is a television show about loggers.
  • Cutting down trees promotes global warming.
  • Logging companies and mills may replace trees whacked with a different variety.
