A Review of the Hickory Hollow Restaurant in Houston Heights, Texas
Being from the northeast I'm not a connoisseur of BBQ food, but I know what I like, and the Hickory Hollow restaurant in Houston, Texas has great BBQ. I first went to the Hickory Hollow because they sent me a coupon as a new resident to the

United States of America Houston area - a great marketing tool - so I thought I'd give it a try despite my bad experiences with BBQ restaurants in Houston thus far.
The first time I went I was concerned about being able to find something healthy on the menu but that was no problem. I had grilled chicken breast, rice, and a small salad. The chicken was succulent, tender, juicy, and not dry whatsoever. The rice was savory but the portion was very small and left me wanting more. The salad was just a trip to the salad bar which really is just a fixins bar with lettuce, diced cucumber, croutons, jalapeno peppers, crackers, shredded cheese, and sliced pickles; so I wasn't impressed since it's available to everyone yet I had to pay for it with my meal.
I went on a Sunday night and the parking lot was just about full which indicated just how popular this place is. It is very casual with that BBQ feel having wooden tables, wooden walls and the menu on the wall when you wait in line - similar to Fuddruckers. You have to place your order at the cashier and then you receive a number, which they call when your food is ready. We waited about 10 minutes to receive our food which gave us enough time to fill our cups with iced tea or soda, find a table, and fill our mini bowls full of BBQ sauce and salad.
