How to Express Your Feelings for Mom in a Mother's Day Card
You stood for an hour in the Mother's Day cards section at the store, deliberating between the humorous card with the monkey on it and the sentimental card with the flowers and glitter. You finally decided on the appropriate card for the relationship you
and your mother share, paid the $3.95 for your little cardboard expression of love and now here you sit. Card opened in front of you, pen poised in the air ready to mark down the perfect phrase of endearment and you have no clue what to write! Don't feel overwhelmed, there's hope for you yet.
First thing's first, what kind of relationship do you and your mother have? Are you extremely close, more like best friends? Do you have fun times, go out together, tell secrets and share everything? If you have a relationship like this with your mom, chances are thinking of something to write in her Mother's Day card won't take you too long. Start off by thanking her for all the fun times you've shared together. Let her know that you feel so lucky to have a mom who is close enough to be your friend.
Something along the lines of; "Dear Mom (Mommy, Ma, or any other pet name you may call her including her first name if you're that friendly), Thanks for always being there for me. Knowing I can share everything with you, get your advice on anything and have fun times with you, means the world to me. I love you!" Add in any anecdotes or funny memories, along with illustrations if necessary.
If your relationship isn't quite so close, more of a "traditional" parent-child relationship, then you might be struggling with what to write. Do you have a great deal of admiration and respect for your mom? You love her, but you aren't exactly very opened about your feelings? Best thing to do here is to keep it simple and sweet. "Dear Mom, Thank you for all you do. I know I can always count on you. You're the best!" It's important to let her know how much she is appreciated. If your mom has recently helped you with something (financially, emotionally, etc.) you can thank her specifically for her help and/or advice.
