Mother's Day is celebrated throughout the world. However, unlike celebrations in America which occur in May, Mother's Day is actually celebrated in the UK in March. Regardless of the date, though, the rich history of the United Kingdom means that England is a great place to celebrate moms, whichever date you choose.Visit an English Heritage or National Trust site on Mother's Day.
England is filled with a rich national history, and English Heritage and National Trust are both devoted to preserving that history. The beautiful sites that they maintain throughout the United Kingdom offer beautiful views, walks, museums, ruins, and an opportunity to share it all with mum. Head to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden in Yorkshire for a stroll through the gardens, the deer park, and the abbey ruins. Top it off with a brunch or a tea or coffee in the on-site cafe. Share a beautiful piece of history with the beautiful mother in your life.
Attend a traditional pub brunch and roast on Mother's Day.
Mother's Day in the UK is marked by traditional Sunday roasts in pubs across the country. Expect a larger menu than usually offered, and perhaps flowers or wine for mum, too. If you are celebrating Mother's Day with an American mom in May instead of Britain's March, you can still take mom out for a Sunday roast that she'll enjoy. Buy the flowers at a local florist before you go.
Take mum and the kids to Wacky Warehouse for Mother's Day.
A traditional Sunday roast with a twist, Wacky Warehouse is a great choice for celebrating Mother's Day if you have small children. Located throughout the United Kingdom, these indoor play places are attached to a pub. The food is decent and the prices are right. Wacky Warehouse is a great place to take mum out on Mother's Day because she can get a bit of a break from cooking, the kids can play, and everyone can enjoy some time together.
