Considering the pattern of the past 8 years, it's hard to believe we have to ask this question. Shouldn't any Democratic candidate be able to beat the Republicans? Looking back at 2004, apparently not. People were already feeling uneasy about George W. Bush, but not enough to take a chance on Kerry and Edwards. And current polls show McCain with a lot of support. This amazes me as well, when you realize this is a man who can't even get the full support of his own party. His own mother said, "They'll just have to hold their noses and pull the lever!" That's a booming endorsement. Still, Democrats have a strange way of shooting themselves in the foot, so they really need to field the best candidate. So what's it gonna be? Clinton or Obama?

It is my belief the only true change candidate in this race is Barack Obama. After learning more about his life, I have more respect for Sen. Obama than ever. He is a principled, courageous candidate who really believes in doing the right thing, no matter what the circumstances. I am not saying he's not a politician. They all are. But the kind of politician he is represents the direction that government needs to go in. Hillary Clinton represents the old-style politician, and that needs to stop. Unless you're happy with the results of that. Anyone?

I already know the negatives: Reverend Wright, William Ayers, the "bitter comment." But if that's the best Republicans have to throw, it is mild compared to the negatives of Sen. Clinton and her husband. If people think Bill's blunders aren't going to come up, they're in denial. Republicans have built a file on the Clintons so deep, people would be begging for Weather Underground members (who, by the way, two members were pardoned by Bill Clinton) or a Reverend Wright. Can anyone say John Hagee? Obama and McCain are even on the pastor controversy.

Barack Obama.

I have written extensively on this site and elsewhere about Senator Obama. I agree totally with your views that he is the best choice to defeat McCain and would make an excellent President The idea of painting him as an "elitist" is silly. Obama grew up with a single mother and pulled himself up. We had the faux image of Bush (43) as a country boy, munching on pork rinds. Senator Clinton has a a bit of nerve accusing Obama out of touch with the "common man". Your article is excellent!

in response to Tony Vega's comment, we disagree. McCain sought and received the endorsement of John Hagee. He admitted in an interview it wasn't a good idea, then added that he was glad to have it. What does that say? The associations of McCain (see Charles Keating) and Clinton (see everyone!) are just as bad if not worse than his pastor, who he has now completely disassociated himself from. Of course, this won't be enough for people, and that's ok. All three candidates have numerous skeletons based on their past. To say Obama has a "multitude" of anti-American CLOSE affiliations is what is absolutely false. The bottom line is McCain and Clinton both represent old politics at its worse, though I do appreciate McCain's service and attempts at integrity. People are fed up, and let's see what happens in November.

"Can anyone say John Hagee? Obama and McCain are even on the pastor controversy." Absolutely false. There is a huge difference between the relationship the candidates have with these loons. No doubt Hagge is despicable. However, he is not a close confidant of McCain's. Wright was CHOSEN by Obama to baptize his family, dedicate his house & pray for him & attend (not publicly speak) at his formal announcment for his candidacy. Obama's national speech at the DNC was from Wright's sermon..Obama's book was honoring Wright's sermon...Obama has a multitude of anti-American, subversive, terrorists and terrosist sympathizers as CLOSE affiliations.

Hi, I am writing to let you know about a controversial campaign that is guaranteed to spark some interesting conversations amongst your readers. Student Voices by MATT.org has launched a Brickfish campaign asking youth to get creative about border issues. The "Immigration Illustration" campaign, located at http://www.brickfish.com/politics/ImmigrationIllustration?tab=1&=pr_matt, invites everyone to express their ideas and attitudes about immigration reform by creating an illustration, political cartoon, or a work of art. The grand prize winner will receive a $500 scholarship or cash equivalent and a KODAK EASYSHARE All-in-one printer. Prizes will also be awarded to the most viral entry and to someone who signs up for the Student Voices email list. If you are interested in covering the campaign and need a URL or images, feel free to contact me at Ashley.Futak@brickfish.com or 858-587-2530. Thanks!

I just love people who rant and rave and then block me from responding. So much for freedom of speech and agreeing to disagree. I will not be called an idiot for not wanting the power junkie Hillary Clinton to hold the highest office in the land. She lies outright (see Bosnia), fakes identification with the working-class, and has no problem destroying her own party to get what she wants. Or by making sure no one else gets the nomination. This woman is not a uniter, nor does she represent change. Face it, readers, the 90's are over and they ain't comin' back. 9/11 changed everything. I'm not even going to respond to crackpots who think Obama is a muslim, or sympathetic. Concerning PA, I live here and Hillary came to her "home state" once during the Clinton presidency-when her father died. Also, it should be noted: her husband couldn't control himself, left office as a laughing stock, and dropped the ball on terrorism during the 90's to meet his 'needs'.

If you read carefully your first paragraph... then after allowing that blazen truth laden paregraph to set in... ask yourself. should such described people even be considered as worthy of choosing the person who will represent us for the next however many years...?

I was talking about articles that I had come across, maybe you haven't noticed but Jeremiah Wright is now one of the most popular searches. I don't follow Hagee, Wright, or any other man. My loyalty belongs to God and the dictates of my concsience. Granted, my tone was a bit hostile there.

Unfortunately, If you are an Obama supporter, the news from the Associated Press Poll that came out today, isn't good for your candidate. this newest national poll puts Clinton beating McCain by 9 points and Obama and McCain in a virtual dead heat, with a margin of error of only slightly over 3 percent. Sorry. Refusing to debate and refusal to distance yourself from Rev Wright's remarks was bound to hurt Obama's chances and it did.

I am African American and an Independent. I'm sorry, but if I were to pick someone who was to be the "first black President" to represent us in history, it certainly wouldn't be Obama. Not with the state of the world today. If he gets the nomination, he won't get my vote. I like McCain because, as former military, he gives a damn about whether or not this country gets terrorized again. And for my fellow back folk who really want a black President, there is always a space on the ballot for a write-in canidate. Can you say Colin Powell ? Now that's a man who we truly need in office for our homeland safety.

Obama is very dangerous and will harm the ailing economy tremendously with more burdensome taxes. He will drive honest small business owners out of business. How on the face of this planet can you possibly call this loathsome, untrustworthy liberal "principled?" He will be weak and sympathetic with Muslim terrorists, in my opinion. He is also aligned with a pastor who is a raving madman and then does a little soft shoe dance to deny it. You say "true change," but what is the change? What "principles" does he have? He stands for every rotten liberal cause known to mankind, and if you don't believe it, just do some research. Also, please read his laundry list of 58 lies: www.common-sense-conservative.com I've always said that I would hide in a cave or jump over Hoover Dam if Hillary got elected, and would not call her my "presdent" even if her henchmen were twisting my arms off. I vowed I would get a tattoo saying that she's not my president. However, she now appears great compared t

DEBATE! DEBATE!! DEBATE!!! It's time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP. Hillary Clinton seemed almost somber at her Pennsylvania victory speech. As if part of her was hoping Obama could have proved he had some chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources. But it is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up. Hillary Clinton say's that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Mr. Obama faces a test of whether he has what i

MY FELLOW "BITTER", STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-) If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of "BITTER"!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-( You Might Be An Idiot! :-) If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience. You Might Be An Idiot! :-) If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history. You Might Be An Idiot! :-) If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people. You Might Be An Idiot! :-) If you think that Obama with n

If Brett intends to berate you, JS Flannery, don't worry about it. You are right, and Barack is the ONLY change candidate running on the dem ticket. Ron Paul was the only one on the Rep ticket, and we ALL know he had no chance, sadly. But then again, he isn't a true Republican...

Congratulations, you are now the first person I have come across to actually write any positive article about the disciple of Jeremiah Spite. You are officially in a state of denial.
