Lakers Sweep Nuggets Out of the Playoffs

It has been an amazing basketball season for both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. That season has now drawn to a close for one team, while propelling the other to the next round of the NBA Playoffs, as the Lakers bring home a 107-101 victory to sweep the Nuggets out of the tournament.

The 2008 basketball season has been one of the best in recent memory, or even the best of any memory at all for some of the NBA's younger fans. For the first time in over 20 years, the Nuggets won more than 50 games. This not only secured their place in the Playoffs, but gave many basketball fans the impression that the Nuggets would be the team to beat.

Unfortunately, they were no match for the LA Lakers, who won 4 consecutive games to drive the Nuggets out of the running. For those who have followed the Lakers-Nuggets games, it seemed apparent that they had lost all hope by the end of Game 3.

Following their third loss, Denver's Carmelo Anthony accused the team of giving up. In a televised press conference, he accused the players, the coaches, and even himself, of giving up, and vowed that he would not let it happen again in Gam 4.

Anthony filed out of Game 4 with 1:19 left on the clock, paying the way for Kobe Bryant to score an additional 14 points for the Lakers. Bryant had scored a total of 31 points for the Lakers during the match.

The Lakers will now advance in the tournament to play the winner of the Utah-Houston series. The Jazz currently leads that series 3-1, leaving them just 1 game shy of victory.
