If you, or someone you love, will be spending time in a communal based program, such as prison, summer camp, or even an extensive rehabilitation or hospital admission, it is important to become familiar with the health risks associated with MRSA. While physicians often make diagnosis late, it is family members who may be able to identify the condition early and even provide options for preventing the risk of infection.
In many communal based programs, items considered natural or healing in nature are permitted to be brought in. Because MRSA infections are quite common in the communal setting, many individuals are beginning to use natural honey as a way to prevent infection of MRSA. Keeping small containers of natural honey at bedside, patients and residents in communal based programs often find they can treat simple skin and soft tissue wounds with honey and, at the same time, prevent infection of MRSA.
Natural honey has an antimicrobial and medicinal property that has long been understood among holistic healers and alternative healing approaches. While physicians may prescribe antibiotics and topic antibiotic creams, many patients find an effective remedy with the use of a far healthier approach in natural honey. Unlike food grade honey, natural honey is sterile and will not act as a natural supportive agent to the staph, or MRSA, bacteria.
