Week after week we see the same guy, with the same stool and/or guitar, singing with the same tone, tempo and attitude. Who is this blah performer? Jason Castro, of course. How he got through last week is beyond the senses. He may have good tone, but it hasn't changed any of the former critiques written about him by this author - namely me.

This week was no different. Neil Diamond week did nothing for him, even with two songs that gave him the opportunity to really stand out. The first song was "Forever in Blue Jeans." It was nice to see him off, what I have now dubbed, the "toadstool." But, for a revved up song that this originally is, he sounded very depressed. On top of that he seemed to be struggling with his voice from beginning to end. He just didn't seem very into the song and what it was talking about. His biggest problem is, and has always been, lack of understanding the meaning of the song. He is so intent on hitting the right tone that he doesn't delve into what message the song is portraying.

His second song for the night, "September Morn", really wasn't all that different from the first. He tried to make the song as romantic as it really is, but again he just came off as very depressed. Blah is the only way to truly explain it. It was the same old performance, with the "toadstool", and, as Simon said, it was very forgettable. The sad part was that during the judge's review he actually made excuses for how his voice sounded. Pathetic! First off, you should never make excuses especially if you ever plan on being a professional. Second, there was no difference in his voice between this week and the last few weeks! When the judges had had their say you could see in Jason's face that he knew he could have done better.

There is no one who will challenge him because he is a challenge to no one. He has got to go. He has taken a more talented person's spot for the last few weeks: Kristy Lee Cook, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns are all more worthy of Jason Castro's position than he is. Pray America gets it right this week and gets rid of him.

I only watched this show a couple of times because his performances were so mediocre and it looked so rigged!
