The FireFox browser, powered by Mozilla, is a nice alternative to Internet Explorer. It has a lot of great built in features that others do not have or that are too complicated to use. Some of the things that I use on a regular basis is the Download Helper and PDF Download program. Even the features of the browser are nice. Being able to choose when items are downloaded and saved, a pop up download box, privacy options that are customizable, web feed options and when to update the browser.

AdBlock Plus: Will remove banners from pages or allow you to add a filer subscription that covers most of the common website adverts. This take about 30 seconds to download and about 30 seconds to set up. You also have the option to open the AdBlock screen and selectively block things that are not covered in subscriptions. On a regular basis you should export your saved filters to a Word file. Click the Preferences tab then File; choose 'export' and it will create a file for them. Save the information so if the browser ever crashes or updates unexpectedly you have a back-up copy.

If you are someone that loves to bookmark pages, FireFox allows you to save them to a file in a matter of seconds. I had a problem with my bookmarks getting erased (thanks to a virus) and having the ability to bookmark them and retrieve them in a matter of seconds was really nice. You can find this on the Bookmark tab under organize bookmarks. Use the export function to save them to a file and the import function to retrieve them if you need to.

FireFox offers you a lot of ad-on programs and themes that you can use to customize your browser and what you can do with it. Some of the more popular add-on programs include PDF Download, Feed Sidebar for web notifications, Video Download Helper, AllMusic.com Search Toolbar, Squidoo, Metscape Link Pad and more. You can activate them or turn them off in a matter of seconds using the add-on resource box from the drop down menu.

So informative! I've been using FF for years but never explored enough to know about add ons and such..

I am a big fan of Mozilla, except it doesn't load some java stuff correctly. But in all honesty, I don't seem to get the viruses and worms and other creepie crawly things that my non FF family members seem to get. My sister's computer has always got something due to her kids downloading things, but since switching to FF, I don't get that stuff anymore. So for me, security-wise, Firefox rules! I love add ons too... I have a Gmail add on that I am in love with right now :)

Great points! I use Firefox and IE both like them both, and they each have their own pros and cons.
