Sara Evans: Not in a Real Fine Place

The same man who Sara Evans claims convinced her to record her recent hit, "Cheatin'", has apparently brought that song to life. Craig Schelske, Sara's husband of thirteen years, has been accused of committing adultery, on top of being addicted to pornography, being verbally abusive and having alcohol problems. Schelske, an aspiring politician who is currently unemployed, has been indicted by Evans for having pornographic photos of himself with other women on the couple's computers. Evans and Schelske have three children, Avery, Olivia and Audrey, all under the age of 8. Schelske ran for U.S. congress in 2003 as a Republican but wasn't victorious.

Sara Evans was one of the celebrities chosen for this season's "Dancing With the Stars". Her partner, Tony Dovolani, was partners with Stacy Keibler during the second season of the show. Evans and Dovolani had not yet been eliminated when news of Evans' divorce broke but it looks like now they will no longer be in the competition. Sara has announced that she plans to leave the show to focus on her family during this difficult time. As one could imagine, it would be challenging to focus on dancing after experiencing such a devastating matter. 

When I first heard the news about Evans and Schelske, my initial reaction was shock. I was familiar with Sara's music, life and family, being a fan of her music. Evans is a devout Christian and from what I know of her husband, he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders too. I remember seeing the two of them act so lovey dovey in her "Suds in the Bucket" video, in which Schelske made a cameo at the end. I would imagine that being unemployed would take a toll on a male's ego, especially when his wife is off doing the tango with another attractive man. However, that does not justify having an extra marital affair. While I personally believe that most cheating occurs due to some interal problem within a relationship, I also question if men are just lazy, selfish and horny. Is it really that simple (after all, men claim they aren't complicated)?
