How to Meet NASCAR Drivers

There are some obvious ways to meet NASCAR drivers, such as at souvenir haulers at the racetracks (scheduled events) or maybe on the pit road or garage area, if you have a pit pass. However, what about people that don't live near racetracks, or people with children since pit road is off-limits to anyone under 18?

Meeting drivers is usually best during the racing season between February and November. Obtain a copy of the schedule (nascar.com), and see when a race will take place closest to where you live.

Once you have the State or area narrowed down, you will need to find out which drivers will be making public appearances. All drivers have to make public appearances to satisfy their sponsor contracts, all you have to do is find out where these appearances take place. These appearances usually take place during the week of the race in the immediate area.

Pick your favorite driver that you would like to meet. Then there are three ways to find out where they may appear:

1. Go to their official fan club online. You can find those websites easily enough by using search engines. You can usually access information without paying a membership fee; all you should have to do is register with an e-mail to view the information on the site. Driver appearances should be posted on the fan sites. If you can't find it, just keep checking back. A lot of time the information is not available until race week.

2. Find their main sponsors' websites. If you know the main sponsors of the driver you would like to meet, all you have to do is go the official website of the sponsor and search for when driver appearances are scheduled. If you can't find any information, simply send an e-mail via the "contact us" feature and ask.

3. Use your networking skills. If you have friends that like NASCAR, ask them if they know of any appearances. If you live in an area that normally does not cater to racing fans, you can join online forums and find out.
