There are many who will recognize the name Jack Cafferty from his many years as a New York newsman. And many more will recognize him from his no-nonsense commentary and observations from "The Cafferty File" on CNN. In his first book, It's Getting Ugly Out There, Jack Cafferty lets you in on the man behind the man you see and hear on television, taking the reader back through his life, showing the reader incidents, experiences, and people that helped form Jack Cafferty. This serves a dual purpose: as an autobiography and as foundation and backdrop for why he thinks the United States is in a woeful state of affairs at present.

Cafferty lets the reader knows exactly where he stands -- for what is best for the United States. He pulls no punches, writes what he thinks, and goes to the heart of all the current problems facing the nation with an economy of words. In fact, the book reads just like a Jack Cafferty presentation on CNN. If you are a fan of Cafferty's curmudgeonly gruff, bare-knuckled approach, then It's Getting Ugly Out There will not only inform but entertain as well. If not, then you might want to find reading material elsewhere.

Thanks, RazorsEdge. I'd like to see Jack get his own half-hour show.

You have to take a look at CNN's "The Situation Room", Bat. Cafferty's a fixture there. After all of Wolf Blitzer's political correctness, Cafferty is just what the realist ordered. And my pleasure with Hannity and Coulter and all the rest of those cerebral dwarves that tend to yell and scream about how America is always under attack. For that kind of thing, I watch Glenn Beck. He's a little out there on the right, but he makes it interesting.

I wish Cafferty would say what he really thinks on CNN! Seriously, good job, Saul.

Great review! I've never seen Cafferty on TV, but you conveyed his approach very picturesquely (and thanks for knocking Hannity and Coulter--whatever happened to news channels that actually report news, instead of providing a forum for blowhards?)
