Spring Valley Chewable Calcium are chocolate squares that taste like chocolate caramel. They are wonderful and taste just like candy. I love them, there is no grittiness in them, nor is there a medicine taste to the chews. It is such a relief to me to finally have a calcium supplement that I can take and not feel like I am going to choke to death before I can swallow it. Since I have osteoporosis, I take calcium plus I fortify my diet with dairy products such as yogurt, cheese and milk.
Each Spring Valley Chewable Calcium square contains:
Vitamin D 200 I.U.
Vitamin K 40 mcg
Calcium 500 mg
Sodium 20 mg
Women, especially older women need between 1000 and 1200 mg of calcium each day. It protects us from bone loss, and also protects us from breast, colon and ovarian cancer. After menopause we are more susceptible to bone loss. As our bodies need more calcium, our bones will take the hit if we don't have enough circulating in our bodies from supplements.
There are 20 calories in each square, and the carbohydrate content is 4 gms. The chocolate caramel taste is very pleasing. Since my doctor said I need to take 1000 mg of calcium a day, I take two chews. I took the first two last night, and took today's dose this morning. It doesn't even taste like I am taking medication, and that is a good thing. I have a sweet tooth, and this is as good as a chocolate kiss.
