Getting organized is a big part of spring cleaning and getting organized can be messy. Getting organized can actually make your home even more dirty and stressful. Tackling organization should be approached just like any other large cleaning job, using lists and organization. That is correct; you need to be organized to complete your organization. However, it can be done as long as you take it slowly and do not overwhelm yourself.

1. Admitting you have a problem

The first step to getting organized is admitting that you in fact need the organization. I think that most people have that one room, closet or drawer that is the place you stick things that you do not normally use. These places not only clutter your house but they also clutter your mind. It is that one thing that you just never get around to organizing. Once you are ready for the big job, you can then move on to the next step.

2. Buying Supplies

One of the biggest mistakes that some people make is that they automatically run out and by a lot of tubs and boxes to put things in. However, you can actually add to your clutter and stress by overwhelming yourself with bins and boxes. You first need to actually evaluate the amount of boxes that you will need. Purchase as few as possible because it is better to have to go out a buy a couple extra bins than have a couple leftover to create even more clutter. If you have a closet in your clutter room or the closet is your problem, consider investing in a closet organizer. They are a little pricey but utilizing the space to its maximum can add a lot more space than one might think. Buy boxes and bins that are pretty and go with the color scheme for your room.

3. Wading through

It is now time to decide what must stay and what must go. Keepsake items should be condensed to as few boxes as possible but do not feel forced to let go of items you want to keep. Trash manuals and cords for long lost items and old magazines. Clothing that you cannot wear anymore should be discarded or donated and so on. You should then start figuring out how you are going to organize the items you are keeping.

4. Organization
