Father's Day is unfortunately given a lot less fanfare than Mother's Day and its time we take a look at the man in our child's life and see how we can celebrate this day with him and make it special! New Dad's are already celebrating but how about after the little darlings have been around a while?

Ever notice how the important day's like Mother's Day and Father's Day are always on a Sunday? Weekends in the life of any busy dad is often the time the 'man of the house' gets a long list of hunny - do -chores or activities perhaps not entirely of HIS choosing!

This year why not find a way to truely celebrate Father's Day the way DAD would like? Sure some would love to putter around the house on his special day and take care of those daily chores or yardwork that he can't fit into a busy week of overtime but then again what if the dad in your house would like a day he call call his own?

What are some gift ideas your dear dad might really wish to get this year?

Here are the top 10 gift suggestions obtained by a not so random polling of the local dad in our house.

1. UNINTERRUPTED time to watch his favorite sports game on TV, even if that 'sport' is what some female observers may refer to as 'fake' wrestling matches.

2. Favorite snack foods readily available and magically refilled during the viewing of the above mentioned sports.

3. IOU slips that can be redeemed for the above gifts at ANY time in the next year! ( except when a real conflict may occur such as Mother's Day or Mom's birthday!)

4. To make a really huge impression this Father's Day present Dad with tickets to actually go and see his favorite team play. Also include a take along pack that can include confetti to celebrate a victory or a crying towel should the sports gods be against his team!

5. Another IOU for one unexpected moment of instant unhesitating obedience and or agreement from the teens in his life without making a federal case out of anything!

6. A front row seat under a shade tree with his favorite beverage in hand allowing Dad to supervise the washing, waxing and detailing of his vehicle by the adoring children he cherishes and works hard to support all year.

Deb...This article was awesome! I really loved it. I have to admit, when I came to #5, I had to burst out laughing and immediately thought that would be my favorite one. But...then I came to 6, then 7, then...well, you know. Believe it or not, by the time I was coming to the end, I almost had tears in my eyes. This was very well written. Great job! :-D

Wonderful list. My father is gone now, but he would be so touched by any show of appreciation shown to him.
