Cell phone recycling is good for the environment and there are enough cell phones lying around that somebody should put together a program to encourage people to recycle their old cell phones instead of letting them sit around gathering dust. Studies estimate that there are over half a billion cell phones no longer in use. Most people that were asked said they would recycle their cell phone if there was a convenient way to go about disposing of them in the proper manner. Of course one in ten of the respondents said they just tossed their old cell phones in the trash when they were done with them.

There are companies that will pay you for your old cell phone as long as it is in working order. They will even send you a prepaid envelope to mail your cell phone to them. Here are a few facts that might shock you on how many cell phones there are that are no longer being used. Less than one percent of cell phones manufactured have ever been turned in to be recycled. More than 150 million cell phones will be replaced this year. Manufactures of cell phones are always trying to come out with the latest greatest and most technologically advanced cell phone available. Maybe they should just concentrate on producing a good quality cell phone that will last for a number of years. I realize that technology is moving at such a rapid pace but people, are replacing cell phones that have nothing wrong with them just in order to get the latest gadget. This is especially a trend we see among young people who seem to care so much for the environment.
