In the fast pace society that we live in it is sometime hard to monitor everything that our children see and hear around them. If you want more control over what your kids are doing when they get older then start getting them prepared when that are young. If you start young then later on in life you want have to worry about your child lounging around on the couch watching television every moment of the day. One of the most simplest things to start doing for your toddler is limiting how often they watch television. This will also prevent them from seeing a lot of things that they don't need to see. Finding ways, or even knowing how to limit TV time can be a problem for some parents, but it is not as hard as it may seem.You can start by trying more creative things that can been done with a parent, friend, or even alone. Finger painting is a great thing to do with tots. Coloring can be great as well as drawing and playskool products. There are tons of fun creative, and educational things to do for children purchased in places like Walmart and Kmart. Don't make the mistake of getting your child the kiddie video games. Studies has shown that for children video games are just as addictive as if they are watching television constantly. Children should watch one hour of television a day or less.
If your toddler is use to watching television for hours at a time daily one of the best ways to avoid this is to have a enclosed TV stand. Putting your television in a armoire will take the attention off of watching it. If your child see the television this will give them more time to ask to watch something on it, but if it's not visible your child want ask to watch it as much, and probably want think about it. Reading with your child can be put in the place of watching television. Showing your toddler that television is not a need it's a privilege. Choosing two days out of the week for family television night can be great and lots of fun. Being together as a family and watching a family movie can be of great interest to your child. This will not only allow television time, but this is also quality time with your family cuddled together.
