Some time ago I was looking through my photo albums and longingly fingered the beautiful pages. That time in my life was so dear to me and something that makes me ache for the past. I was carefree and hopeful in those years; I was in love; I had dreams and everyone beloved to me was alive.

When I lived with my dad I would go on daily walks, no matter if it was raining, snowing or bitter cold. Nothing kept me from my time outdoors and my special time with God. It was in His beautiful creation that I washed away the cares of the world and felt quiet joy. Woodmoor, Colorado was breathtaking back then. I lived in a cozy home surrounded by woods, field's and hills. As I left my house each day I was always followed by my neighbor's dogs, Chelsea and Birdie. For three years they walked with me and I always greeted them with a smile and hug. It was such a peaceful time in my life.

One summer day in 1990 (I was 17) I was walking with Birdie and Chelsea when two other dogs came running out of their owner's garage to join us. The dogs didn't fight and they all followed me; it was harmonious and I can easily recall that wonderful feeling, even 18 years later.

I still walk nearly every day but it doesn't compare to that precious time in my life when I looked at the world with innocent, youthful eyes.
