There are very differing opinions about whether or not stand up comedian Dane Cook is funny. But in one of Dane Cook's funnier jokes he talks about how one day there will be teleportation devices. With these teleportation devices it will take us a split second to go anywhere we want, except the DMV. The DMV will still take three whole seconds.

Everybody hates the DMV. It takes hours just to get one little menial task done. Teenagers are probably the most impatient. As much as they would like to get their driver's license, they'd rather spend four hours at home doing important things like playing video games or watching television.

But teenagers will suffer no longer! I was listening to the news today when I heard this genius idea that Alabama DMVs are implementing. I have to warn you. You might want to sit down for this. This idea is so brilliant that it's going to knock you off your feet. You're going to want to make the guy that thought this up the next President of the United States because truly he is the only person that can fix our country's problems. Okay, here it is. This is the solution to waiting in line at the DMV for a driver's license test...

Appointments.

Yes! Appointments! Now I know what you're thinking. "What are these appointments you are speaking of? I've never heard of them. It's not like appointments are a concept that has been used for decades, centuries even."

You see you can call the DMV and ask them what time they are available. The DMV will then tell you a time to go and that time will be designated for you. You won't have to wait in line at all!

This is brilliant! Why doesn't everybody use these appointments? Doctors should use appointments! So should dentists! They should even designate a specific time for kids to go to school! No longer will you show up at 10:13 wondering if your class decided to start or not.

Imagine what impact this "appointment" idea could have.

I'm with Randy, I just don't believe appointments at the DMV will improve anything. More than likely our waiting time will be increased because the DMV will still be working on the appointments from the day before.

The thing about appoints is I still see my Dr. 1 hour after my appointed time. I can only assume the DMV will extrapolate that lag by a factor of 6.
