New York is a state rich in history and there are many ways to drive across it in search of its famous landmarks. Perhaps the most fun way is to go on a driving tour of New York State's famous haunted locations. From New York City to Albany to Buffalo, mysterious destinations and famous haunted places await you.Start in New York City for dozens of famous haunted locations, including the romantic restaurant One if By Land, Two if By Sea, located in a carriage house once owned by Aaron Burr. Burr's daughter is said to haunt the place and steal earrings from patrons. Other ghosts have also been sighted there.
From New York City, drive up the Hudson Valley to Newburgh where the local Masonic temple is said to be haunted. Furniture moves on its own, and the voices of men not actually there have often been heard.
Continuing further into New York State, Albany is also perfect for famous haunted sites. The state capital building is said to be haunted by the ghost of a caretaker that died in a fire, and ghosts have also been sighted at The College of St. Rose and the State University at Albany.
From Albany you can drive across New York State towards Buffalo and Niagara Falls. At the Falls hauntings are common both at Niagara University and at a location called "Devil's Hole" where sounds of chants in foreign languages are common. Local legend says not to visit the area at night and suggests that pre-Colonial human remains were recently discovered there.
Famous haunted locations in Buffalo itself include Canisius College, Buffalo Navel Park and the Buffalo Psychiatric Center.
