Running might seem like something natural that your body should just know how to do, and while this is true to a certain extent, not everyone's natural running form is the best. When you see people run you can tell who is a natural runner. They seem to be all legs and make running look like the easiest thing in the world. If running isn't as easy for you, don't worry. The more you work on your form, the better results you will get from running and in turn the easier running will become for you. You can almost turn yourself into a natural runner.
One of the most important things you can do while you are running is to look forward. Look straight ahead at where you are going and not down at your feet like you might feel inclined to do. This is important not only because if you are looking where you are going there is less of a chance of you running into another person, but also because the way you hold your head relates to the position of your pelvis. Since the pelvis and hips and important for propelling your forward while running, you will want to make sure they are aligned properly. If they aren't you might get pain in either them or your spine, which will make you want to stop running.
Also be sure to keep your shoulders loose and relaxed. Taking nice deep breaths will help with this. To make it easier to breathe while running, which can be especially difficult if you are new to the sport, make sure you are running straight and tall, not leaning forward.
Arm movements are something I often notice in natural runners. They swing their arms back and forth with ease as they jog along. People who don't have the form of a natural runner tend to swing their arms across their bodies. Make sure you also keep your arms bent at 90 degrees at the elbows.
When running make sure you aren't taking too long of strides, especially if you are aiming to increase your endurance. Short strides are much more effective.
Also try to run lightly. Don't slam your feet into the pavement. Not only is this probably going to cause you a lot of pain later, but also you want to land lightly and push off right away while you run.
