Lost's Most Important Mythology Episodes

This week's episode of Lost figures to be very important for the show's mythology. It flashes back to Locke's childhood for some strange reason, plus it will give a few more clues about the mysterious Jacob. It will also set up the three part Lost season finale, which will undoubtly
change the direction of the show forever. But not all episodes are really that important in the long run of Lost mythology- some episodes are one shots, some are character driven, and some turn out to be "Stranger in a Strange Land" and "Expose." Given how long Lost fans wait for episodes and how sporadically answers come, some Lost episodes are more important to the overall mythology than others. Here are the ten Lost episodes that are most important to the mythological story of the series- the ones that actually reveal big answers, foreshadow others, or become extra important in the long run.

10. "Walkabout"
The episode that first revealed John Locke was paralyzed before he landed on the island and was healed. It positioned Locke as a man of destiny and established the island's special healing powers- two very important aspects of Lost's mythology. Locke also came face to face for the first time with what would later be revealed as the smoke monster. In addition, it was the first time Jack saw a vision of his dead father, but not the last.

9. "The Constant"
The island's time differential properties were revealed and dissected via Desmond's time jumping abilities and Daniel Faraday's experiments. It also brought a climax to the plot line of Desmond's ability to go back and forth in time, which had big consequences to the Lost mythology in Season Three. Charles Widmore's pursuit of the island was also foreshadowed at an auction for the diary of the island's Black Rock ship.
