Primer
Sand Paper
Paint
Paint Brush

To get started you want to go ahead and unscrew the switch plate off of the wall. Once removed you need to wash it. Any dirt might show or keep your paint form sticking.
Now lay your plastic or wood light cover out on some newspaper in the yard or on a work table.
Use a spray on primer to coat the entire piece of plastic. You only need to coat the front of the light plate. Let the primer dry.
Use your sand paper to sand off any rough areas if needed. If the Platic shows through you will need to apply more primer before adding the faux stone paint.
Now, you have a few options for the faux stone paint on the plastic light covers. You can use a spray on stone, which is quick and simple. Look for Krylon faux stone spray paints. They come in a huge selection of colors.
Look for stone paint with flecks of light color or other colors in them for the most realistic stone look. Another tip is to spray these on in thin layers.
Please note that the faux stone paint on the light plate covers will take a while to dry. Keep yourself from touching the textured paint while drying. If you touch it will ruin the rough texture.
