I had really thought we had put this discussion behind us over 20 years ago. I was looking at some videos of the Jeremy Kyle talk show, which is great I must say it puts controversial American talk shows to shame, I mean it was really riveting and I ended up clicking on some associated links in YouTube for this and that and ended up watching vloggers talk about interracial relationships. It was a weird, eery sense of deja-vu that had taken over me, becuase these were the exact, same, conversations and talking points that plagued me back in the eighties when I was a kid.

Discussions about whose anatomy was bigger, how black Women act, how White women act, what it means to be Afrocentric and date White guys, and so on and so forth. Who will do what in the bedroom, some of the discussions were rather intelligent though most people seemed to want to get page hits. One woman of mixed racial heritage talked about how her father was Black and her mother was White, but her father left her mother for a Black woman. Another girl talked about how she was recieving a lot of hate from other White vloggers because she chose to date Black men, which her old man didn't particularly care for either.

What's worse even adult film stars were chiming in; Sasha Grey was talking about the size (of Black and White men) and the lack of Asian male performers while another performer went on some tangent about the word n*. Having grown up in a time when I thought that interracial was about one of the last taboos we had overcome in relationships I had really thought that this was put behind us. These days young Black women date White males in their teenage years; it isn't anything to see Blacks with other races you had never encountered before, such as the Asians Sasha was referring to. So why the step backwards instead of advances forward.

Takeaways
  • Why not interracial relationships
  • Stop fighting and give in already, lol
  • If you've never spoken (to anyone) or put that step forward you'll never know
