Dollar stores are classified as retails stores that offer all of their products for a dollar or less. Throughout Central New York, the past few years have brought an abundance of dollar stores. Dollar stores continue to gain shoppers and many are beginning to expand their product lines. There are three main dollar store chains located in Central New York.

Dollar Bazaar is a locally owned company that is based out of Owego, New York. Dollar Bazaar's parent company is referred to as Dollars Worth, LLC. This was one of the first dollar stores to arrive in my town and they have since expanded throughout the rest of New York. Dollar Bazaar has greatly improved since it's first store opened. Dollar Bazaar will sometimes carry name brand products; however, they are mostly known for their low priced comparable items. Most Dollar Bazaar stores have a contract with Pepsi and Little Debbie; therefore, they are able to offer these national products well below supermarket prices.

Dollar Bazaar carries a wide variety of products; for example, they carry food, stationary, books, cleaning supplies, household products, home décor, giftware, baby products, seasonal merchandise and party supplies. Dollar Bazaar usually offers a large selection of party supplies ranging from different colored streamers to cake decorations. If you have to buy someone a gift then Dollar Bazaar should be one of your first stops. This company has an amazing selection of knickknack or other ceramic gift items. Many Dollar Bazaar stores also sell an unlimited amount of gift bags in just about every size for almost any occasion. Dollar Bazaar will also take balloon orders for special occasions.

Each location has different hours of operation, it is recommended that you contact your local store to determine theirs. Most Dollar Bazaar stores accept cash or credit cards and some stores are beginning to accept EBT benefit cards. Dollar Bazaar does not have a company web page. If you are interested in finding a location near you, please call their main office at (607) 687-8815.

There is a Dollar Bazaar store in Wellsboro Pa that has gone downhill consistenly. The store is dirty and the shelves are all in disarray. The freezer section was empty this weekend, the seasoning racks have been taken away, bread racks were empty, with a holiday weekend coming you would think they had taken that into account. POOR MANAGEMENT LOOKS LIKE
